One of my first large-scale projects with Discover Denton was partnering with the City of Denton's marketing team to help accomplish their ambitious Thirty One Days of Halloween.
As the Halloween capital of Texas, Denton goes all out!
My main piece of 2025's Halloween efforts was the brochure map showing both visitors and residents alike where to find the 20 month-long decor spots they've seen all over Instagram and TikTok, like the tentacles bursting out of City Hall West, or the NTX Ghostbusters Headquarters. Over 10,000 copies were printed and distributed to businesses downtown to be handed out. I drew each icon in Adobe Fresco to match the illustration style of the city's designer, David Baker, who is responsible for the creative direction of Thirty One Days of Denton Halloween (as well as the courthouse and headless horseman illustrations seen on the brochure, and countless other pieces of Denton Halloween!)
The map also promoted our spooky trail pass on Bandwango, resulting in over 2,300 downloads. Users could scan the QR, visit each spot on the map, and then pick up a free matching sticker sheet!
I also had the honor of being one of the artists selected to make a piece to be projected on Denton's famous Morrison's Corn Kits building. Other artists made pieces that evoked more traditional Halloween or Denton imagery (think Frankenstein or a spooky courthouse), so I was inspired to make something more cutesy, featuring my favorite Denton Halloween activation – the classic plastic pumpkin pails hanging from the trees along Hickory Street. This art happened to also make a great puzzle.
Other projects include a logo for The Maze, an ad in Texas Highways magazine, an email signature, social media graphics, website ads, photographing events, and various signage and posters for information kiosks around downtown.
